How to Create Mail Merge with Google Mail

Mail Merge can obviously save you plenty of time as you can send personalized email messages to multiple people at once. The feature is neither available in Gmail nor Google Apps but there are workarounds like:

Option #1. You can connect your Gmail account with Outlook and then use the Mail Merge feature of Microsoft Office Word to send bulk email messages through Gmail but from your desktop.

Option #2. You can use web based services like MailChimp, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, etc. for sending personalized mass emails but they aren’t free.

If none of the above options work for you, here’s a third and better solution – you can setup Mail Merge in Gmail through your Google Docs account – it’s both free and easy to setup. Let’s get started.

Facebook's venture into E-Mail Service

Facebook declared plans in this month to offer users a fully functioning e-mail service that will be available sometime in upcoming weeks. Users will be able to get "@facebook.com" e-mail address, which will be able to receive messages from other e-mail service providers too.

The e-mail service is being called a potential "Gmail killer." The move is the latest in an ongoing battle between Facebook and Google, which says it will offer more social networking features in response to Facebook's growing popularity.

The service will be able to pull in text messages and instant chats, according to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, will play a significant role in electronic communication in the future.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt said Facebook's new venture into e-mail will increase healthy competition. Also, he continues that "More competition is always good because competition makes the market larger," told the Washington Post.

According to a 2009 Pew Internet and American Life Project survey, text messaging has become the primary form of communication for U.S. teens. "We don't think a modern messaging system is going to be e-mail," Zuckerberg said in a press statement.

Well, Most of the people are ready to welcome the new service, while the others say “I hate change”.

What comScore says about Search Engines?! - A Quick Review

Google preserved its authority in search last month, capturing 66.3% of explicit core searches and 64.3% of total core searches, which includes Google Instant.

Well, Bing and Yahoo tracked behind, according to the comScore data Bing has got faintly uptime. comScore has continued it’s second month with the impact of Google Instant – which offers suggestions as someone types – when calculating its search engine rankings.

ComScore said last month that when people type something into Google, hit "enter," and then click on a link, it counts that activity in its "explicit core search" results. Results that show up in Google Instant as someone types will be included in "total core search" results if a user pauses on that for at least three seconds, comScore said.

As a result, Google had 66.3% of the open core search market in October 2010, up very slightly from 66.1% a month before. Yahoo came in 2nd with 16.5% of the market, losing 0.2%, followed by Microsoft sites with 11.5%, a 0.3% boost. Overall, more than 16.6 billion open core searches were conducted in October 2010, with Google capturing 11 billion searches, followed by Yahoo with 2.7 billion, and Microsoft with 1.9 billion.

Recently moved Ask.com – had 598 million searches, followed by AOL with 346 million. On the whole Google is only company in the hit list to make any gains month-over-month in a total core search, which includes Google Instant.

Recent article says that “Google had 64.3 percent of the market, up 1.4 percent from the previous month. Yahoo had 18.5 percent, down 0.7 percent, followed by Microsoft at 12.1 percent, down 0.4 percent.”

Google format enables images with AdWords

Last week Google announced a new ad format that may be used to enhance B2B online marketing strategies involving the search engine.

Google Product Ads, a display type that has been in beta testing for a nearly a year, is finally going to be available for all advertisers. The new format shows images alongside traditional AdWords ads, enabling sponsors to current searchers with a visual representation of the products they are searching for.

Unlike normal AdWord ads, the Google Product Ads can be purchased on a cost-per-acquisition basis. For example, an advertiser could pay Google 2 percent on each product sold through the ads. This enables sponsors to avoid paying for clicks that don't lead to purchases, though if their ads are especially popular, it could drive overall expenditures up.

Google Product Ads are set to be available to all advertisers soon.

Google serves the majority of internet searches, which means the new ad format has potential to reach a wide audience of potential clients. According to Experian Hitwise, Google accounted for 72 percent of searches in conducted by American internet users during September.

Google Engineers test Driverless Cars

The founders of GOOGLE are discovered many latest technologies to resolve several issues. Here is again they are gonna launch another technology. I have found a very good article which is really interesting to me. I believe you too like.. sorry would love it.

Larry and Sergey founded Google because they wanted to help solve really big problems using technology. And one of the big problems we’re working on today is car safety and efficiency. Our goal is to help prevent traffic accidents, free up people’s time and reduce carbon emissions by fundamentally changing car use. So we have developed technology for cars that can drive themselves. Our automated cars, manned by trained operators, just drove from our Mountain View campus to our Santa Monica office and on to Hollywood Boulevard. They’ve driven down Lombard Street, crossed the Golden Gate bridge, navigated the Pacific Coast Highway, and even made it all the way around Lake Tahoe. All in all, our self-driving cars have logged over 140,000 miles. We think this is a first in robotics research.

Our automated cars use video cameras, radar sensors and a laser range finder to “see” other traffic, as well as detailed maps (which we collect using manually driven vehicles) to navigate the road ahead. This is all made possible by Google’s data centers, which can process the enormous amounts of information gathered by our cars when mapping their terrain.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 1.2 million lives are lost every year in road traffic accidents. We believe our technology has the potential to cut that number, perhaps by as much as half. We’re also confident that self-driving cars will transform car sharing, significantly reducing car usage, as well as help create the new “highway trains of tomorrow." These highway trains should cut energy consumption while also increasing the number of people that can be transported on our major roads. In terms of time efficiency, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that people spend on average 52 minutes each working day commuting. Imagine being able to spend that time more productively.

We’ve always been optimistic about technology’s ability to advance society, which is why we have pushed so hard to improve the capabilities of self-driving cars beyond where they are today. While this project is very much in the experimental stage, it provides a glimpse of what transportation might look like in the future thanks to advanced computer science. And that future is very exciting.

Well, The search giant says that although the development of the automated cars is very much in the experimental stage, it provides a glimpse of what transportation might look like in the future.
