Forrester Research predicts Interactive Marketing spending will reach $76.6 billion by 2016

A new report by Forrester Research forecasts that U.S. interactive marketing spending will reach $76.6 billion by 2016, equal to TV spending this year and comprising 35% of all advertising. That's a huge jump since this year interactive will comprise 19% of all spending, according to Forrester.


According to the report, search and display will remain to be the biggest pieces of the interactive spending pie, comprising 44% and 36%, respectively, in 2016, though search will have lost share from 55% in 2011. Mobile paid advertising and search will experience astronomic development and are surpassing email and social this year.

16-18% anticipated growth for India's IT Industry in FY12 – Nasscom Confident

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said it remains confident about its projection for 16-18% growth of the Indian IT industry in the fiscal year 2011-12 even after the economic uncertainty in US and also in European markets.


"There is no reason for us to be worried... We have spoken to customers and they are looking at expanding into geographies and bringing newer solutions to the market," Nasscom President Som Mittal said on the sidelines of the Nasscom BPO Strategy Summit 2011.

Microsoft acquires Skype for $ 8.5 Billion


Microsoft announced a definitive agreement to buy Skype for $8.5 billion. The deal, announced today, would be a shot in the arm for cash-rich Microsoft in competing with strong rivals such as Google and Apple apart from strengthening its footprint in the consumer markets.

"The companies have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire Skype, the leading Internet communications company, for USD 8.5 billion in cash from the investor group led by Silver Lake," the two firms said in a joint statement.

Google acquires Green Parrot Pictures Company

Google has acquired Green Parrot Pictures, an Irish company that makes tools to manipulate digital video and images.

Green Parrot Pictures was founded six years ago by Dr Anil Kokaram, an associate professor with the school of engineering at Trinity College, Dublin.  Green Parrot's technology to help users make better-quality videos, particularly for videos taken with mobile phones. Google said that Green Parrot's technology would enhance the look of videos posted on its site while using bandwidth more efficiently.

Kingfisher Airlines has announced the launch of five new flights on its domestic route network.

The new flights to be introduced are:
  • Mumbai – Jabalpur
  • Jabalpur – Indore
  • Indore – Mumbai
  • Mumbai – Belgaum
  • Belgaum – Mumbai
