Many people struggle while booking their tickets through IRCTC due to time out issues & poor internet connections. IRCTC - Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation would launch a pilot project for ticketing through mobile phones starting from July 1st onwards! The best part is that passengers do not have to concern about their poor internet connections or time out issues.
There is no need of internet connection anymore! We can make use of this service completely without an internet connection.
The system would allow you to access railway ticketing services through SMS or IVR - Interactive Voice Response or USSD - Unstructured Supplementary Services Data systems.
The system is designed in a way that user can access tickets in a secure mode also eco-friendly as no printout would be required. This super cool system will be tossed on pilot basis and it will not be available during 8 AM – 12 PM for booking ARP/Tatkal/General tickets.
“The goal is to hit the potential of the mobile phone market and help the common man by providing anywhere, anytime and hassle-free booking option” said by an official.

So, how can we use this awesome service?
Users would be having a dedicated number to book tickets, make payments and of course cancellations etc.
Simply register your mobile number with IRCTC and one’s bank (One Time Password) for authorization of payment.
User will have to type the train number, destination, trip date, class and few more details like name, age and gender on the SMS.
The customer will be receiving a transaction ID and then make payment by texting another message by typing “PAY” followed by the transaction ID and the bank password.
Once everything is done successfully, user will be getting a message, sent by IRCTC which will be enough and valid to travel along with photo ID card.
